Samurott #503

Samurott — Daikenki, the seamitar-swinging final form of the Unova water starter line, a full-armored samurai-otter wielding bladed scalchops as twin swords. Hisuian Samurott (the Pokémon Legends: Arceus regional variant) arrived in 2022 as a darker, Dark/Water ronin twist — and the Hisuian form is where most of the line's modern TCG action has happened. Between the 2022 Astral Radiance V/VSTAR set, the 2023 Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery alts, and the 2025 White Flare throwback chase, this is the only stage of the line with real depth.

01Top 10 Notable Samurott Cards

Samurott's Top 10 is the most collectible stretch of the entire Unova-water line, and the Hisuian regional form does most of the heavy lifting. The modern 2025 White Flare Illustration Rare leads, but right behind it sits a dense stack of Hisuian Samurott V and VSTAR cards from 2022's Astral Radiance (the Legends: Arceus tie-in set) and 2023's Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery — plus a couple of 2011 Black & White Holos for completeness.

Crown Zenith was the January-2023 farewell to the Sword & Shield era, and the Galarian Gallery subset gathered some of the prettiest alt-art chase cards of the entire SWSH run. This Hisuian Samurott V is a full-art portrait of the brooding Hisuian samurai — a clean, dramatic alt for one of the line's most-loved regional forms.

Same Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery subset, this time the VSTAR form. The pair (GG51/GG52) are designed to be collected together as the V-and-VSTAR alt-art tandem — and most collectors who pull one quickly hunt the other to complete the set.

The Rainbow Rare Hisuian Samurott VSTAR from 2022's Astral Radiance — the set built around Pokémon Legends: Arceus that introduced the Hisuian forms to the TCG. Rainbow-foil pastels over the VSTAR artwork; one of three different chase finishes for this card across the set.

The Astral Radiance secret-numbered Hyper Rare — past the printed set total, the rarest pull of the three Hisuian Samurott VSTAR finishes in the set. The gold-foil-style chase that closes out the Hisuian Samurott run in its debut set.

A 2011 BW Black Star promo — one of the earliest English Samurott prints, usually distributed through prerelease kits and blister packs around the Black & White launch. A nostalgic pickup for anyone who remembers cracking the Unova starters for the first time.

Legendary Treasures was 2013's BW-era greatest-hits closer, and Samurott earned a Rare Holo slot in the set. The cleanest 'classic' Samurott reprint — a defensible binder pick for anyone who wants one good Holo of the original (non-Hisuian) form.

The original. Rare Holo Samurott from 2011's Black & White, the set that started the entire Unova era — the very first English Samurott pulled out of packs by a generation of kids. One of two Holos from the set, this one carries the launch-day cachet.

The full-art Ultra Rare V version of Hisuian Samurott from Astral Radiance — the same dark-armored regional form that anchors the Crown Zenith chases, but at its first TCG appearance. A foundational card for anyone collecting the Hisuian line.
