Pansage #511

Pansage — the Grass Monkey Pokémon, first of Unova's notorious elemental-monkey trio (Pansage/Pansear/Panpour, the not-quite-starters you get from a wandering trainer in Dreamyard). A broccoli-headed Grass-type chimp with a tail-leaf that supposedly cures fatigue. Most famous as Cilan's signature in the Best Wishes anime arc — and famously joked about by Game Freak themselves as one of the most 'why three of these?' design decisions in Pokémon history.

01Top 10 Notable Pansage Cards

Pansage's Top 10 punches well above its bulk reputation — the 2011 BW Black Star promo #BW14 leads at the top (one of the most desirable BW-era promos full stop), the 2025 Black Bolt Illustration Rare sits right behind it, and a McDonald's Happy Meal promo plus a second BW black-star print fill out the chase tier. Everything below that is pack bulk from across a decade of sets.

The 2025 throwback chase. Black Bolt and White Flare were the twin reanimation sets that brought Black & White iconography back for a new collector generation — and Pansage's Illustration Rare in Black Bolt is the line's modern showcase. Painterly full-art monkey, second-priciest in the line.

A 2012 McDonald's Happy Meal promo handed out the year after Pansage's English debut. Holo-foil, usually creased and kid-handled, and clean centered copies sit well above pricetag — Pansage is one of the more sought monkey-trio Happy Meal promos because of his anime connection to Cilan.

The companion BW black-star promo (#BW11) to the BW14 grail — same era, smaller secondary-market footprint, still a clean early-Unova promo with the launch-cohort cachet. The 'other' Pansage promo for completionists.

Pansage in the 2013 Kalos Starter Set — the gift-product mini-collection released alongside XY to bring new players in. Small-distribution starter-set printing rather than booster-pack pull, which puts it a tier above the booster commons.

A 2014 XY-era reprint — Pansage appearing as a Common in the Kalos-launch set, the kind of off-generation reprint XY frequently included. Bulk-bin filler with a clean Ohmura-era illustration.

Next Destinies was the February-2012 set that introduced Pokémon-EX back into the game. Pansage's reprint here is launch-era bulk extension — the kind of Common slot the set used to round out the basic-line roster.

The original. 2011 Black & White Common — the very first English Pansage and the launch-set card that first put the elemental monkey trio in front of a new generation. Bulk for a decade with slow nostalgia lift.

Emerging Powers was the late-2011 first-proper-expansion follow-up to Black & White — and Pansage got the #1 slot in the set's Common roster. A clean, early-Unova reprint with low pull-rate but no in-game pedigree.

BREAKthrough was the November-2015 XY-era set that introduced the BREAK Evolution mechanic. Pansage is bulk filler here — the cheapest verified Pansage in the catalog, pure pack-filler.
