Delphox #655

Delphox is the Fox Pokémon — the fully-evolved Fire/Psychic stage of the Fennekin Kalos starter line. The robed sorceress design and fire-wand attack made Delphox one of XY's most beloved final starters, and its card pool reflects modern V/VSTAR support stacked on top of vintage XY-era EX/BREAK chase.

01Top 10 Notable Delphox Cards

Delphox's chart is a tidy snapshot of how the XY era's starters were modernized over time: a vintage XY-Promo EX leads ahead of a Fates Collide BREAK, then a modern Lost Origin V alt-art and a tail of base-XY-block prints. Nothing here is a four-figure grail, but every card teaches a piece of Fennekin-line history.

Delphox BREAK from Fates Collide #14 is the May-2016 horizontal BREAK Evolution print that stacked on top of a regular Delphox card. BREAK Evolutions were the XY-era's most-distinctive card design, with sideways orientation and a fiery gold-foil background, and Delphox BREAK was one of the prettier examples.

Delphox V from Lost Origin #173 is the September-2022 alt-art V print — a full-art version showing Delphox mid-spell in soft watercolor framing. Lost Origin was the set that introduced Origin Forme Giratina and the famous Giratina V alt-art, and Delphox V's alt-art benefited from the same illustrator-driven Trainer Gallery era.

The XY base set Delphox #26 is the February-2014 dex-position holo rare — the original printing that put fully-evolved Delphox on the TCG scene at the launch of the XY block. Base-XY Stage-2 holos remain the cleanest representations of these starter finals.

Forbidden Light #17 is Delphox's May-2018 SM-block holo reprint, with the cleaner Sun & Moon card frame and a new illustration. By Forbidden Light's era Delphox was no longer a meta presence, but the holo reprint kept the line current in Standard binders.

The Kalos Starter Set #10 Delphox is the November-2013 pre-launch deck print, which paired with the Braixen and Fennekin from the same product to form a Fennekin-themed starter deck. The Kalos Starter Set was North America's first taste of XY-block cards.

The standard (non-alt) Delphox V from Lost Origin #27 is the playable Ultra Rare version of the V card — the one players actually slotted into decks. Lost Origin's V-cards rolled out alongside VSTAR support and gave even non-meta starters at least one modern playable print.

Fates Collide #13 is the base Stage-2 Delphox that the Delphox BREAK from the same set evolved from. Pulling both the base and the BREAK together let players actually run the BREAK Evolution mechanic in Expanded.

Silver Tempest #27 is the November-2022 Sword & Shield-block reprint of Delphox — a holo rare slotted into the set late in the SWSH era. Silver Tempest is best known for its Lugia VSTAR alt-art, but it carried a long roster of holo reprints alongside.
