Darumaka #554

Darumaka — the Zen Charm Pokémon, the chubby little red Fire-type rolly-polly modeled after a Daruma doll (the round Japanese good-luck charm). First stage of the Darumaka → Darmanitan line, and one of the franchise's most thematically grounded designs. Gained a Galarian Darumaka in Sword & Shield (Ice-type), which evolves into the iconic Galarian Darmanitan — and the Galarian form gets a shiny chase in the catalog via 2021's Shining Fates Shiny Vault.

01Top 10 Notable Darumaka Cards

Darumaka's Top 10 has a strong top two — the 2025 Black Bolt Illustration Rare ($13) and the 2011 BW Black Star promo ($12) — followed by a Galarian Darumaka shiny chase ($1.90) and a long bulk tail. A clean two-tier structure with vintage and modern chases sitting almost dead even.

A 2011 BW Black Star promo Darumaka — one of the earliest English distribution-channel cards for the line. Small print run, sentimental Holo-foil cardboard from the launch era; sits almost dead even with the modern Black Bolt chase, a rare promo-vs-chase tie.

Galarian Darumaka from 2021's Shining Fates Shiny Vault subset (#SV023) — the Sword & Shield-era shiny-collection set that gathered all the SWSH-era shiny Pokémon into one chase-tier mini-set. The Galarian (Ice-type) shiny form is one of the prettier Shiny Vault prints.

One of two 2011 Black & White launch-set Commons. The very first English Darumaka prints — bulk for over a decade with slow nostalgia lift. The pricier of the two.

Dragon Majesty was the September-2018 SM-era set built around Dragon-type Pokémon — and Darumaka is decidedly not a Dragon-type, but landed in the set's Common roster as filler. Off-theme bulk.
