Oshawott #501

Oshawott — the Water-type Unova starter, the eternally cheerful Mijumaru who pops a scalchop (a removable shell-blade) off his belly to fight. The middle pick of the Gen-5 starter trio launched in 2010's Black & White, and a fan-favorite anime co-star alongside Ash through the Best Wishes arc. Beloved enough that its line keeps getting throwback love — most recently the 2025 White Flare reprint set that put a chase Illustration Rare back in pull territory.

01Top 10 Notable Oshawott Cards

Most of the Oshawott market lives in the modern throwback chase up top and a cluster of distribution-channel promos behind it. The 2025 White Flare Illustration Rare leads by a country mile; the 2011 McDonald's Happy Meal promo and the BW black-star promos that introduced English Oshawott to the world hold the middle; and the original Black & White commons round out a list dominated by nostalgia and limited distribution rather than competitive play.

A 2011 Happy Meal promo handed out the year Oshawott debuted in English. Most of these were opened, creased, and stuck in the back of a kid's binder by 2012 — clean centered copies of the holo-foil version punch above their weight on the secondary market.

Late-2011 black-star promo, the kind of card slipped into early-Unova-era organized-play products and blisters. Small English distribution, the cheerful launch-art Oshawott shot collectors love, and steady demand keep this one above bulk.

The very first English Oshawott promo, distributed alongside the 2011 Black & White launch itself. Sentimental cardboard for anyone whose first Pokémon game was Black or White — and a small print run means clean copies are not as common as the early-promo price suggests.

The set-mate to the BW launch print — the second Common Oshawott in the 2011 base set that kicked off the entire Black & White era. Bulk-bin starter for over a decade; it's started to firm up as the Unova nostalgia wave keeps lifting the line.

Legendary Treasures was 2013's greatest-hits set, the BW-era farewell that reshuffled the generation's best cards into a single fat release. Oshawott's reprint here is exactly what it sounds like — a clean second swing at the launch print for collectors who missed it the first time around.

A 2021 Happy Meal print, ten years after the original. Same fast-food distribution model but the 2021 set was widely opened and almost entirely non-holo — it sits well below the 2011 promo, but a flawless PSA-10 starter holo can still surprise you.

A Sword & Shield-era black-star promo Oshawott — the channel cards that slip in through prerelease kits, blisters, and the occasional collector tin. A solid 'they made one of these?' pickup for completionists; almost never seen at shows.

Boundaries Crossed was the big late-2012 set built around the Plasma legendaries, and Oshawott's reprint here got a tidier art treatment than the launch print. Pure dollar bin, but a defensible 'best vintage Oshawott commons' pick if you want one of each.

The third 2011 print, sister card to #28 — second Common in the launch set. There is not much separating the two beyond art and price; both are the bulk that sits underneath the chase cards and reminds you how widely Oshawott was printed at launch.
