07Why Collectors Want It

  • One of the 16 original holos in the 1999 Base Set.
  • The 1st Edition print is the real prize: realized raw around $247, with PSA 10s near $9,100 (PriceCharting, May 2026) — well above the ~$36 the asking-price feed showed.
  • Shadowless copies (~$42) and standard Unlimited (~$16) round out the print tiers.
  • An essential holo for any vintage Base Set master set.

08Competitive Playability

Tier: None

Basic Clefairy with 40 HP; top attack around — damage. Functions as an evolution-chain piece rather than a tournament attacker.

09Card Moves and Abilities

Sing Cost: Colorless

Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Asleep.

Metronome Cost: Colorless + Colorless + Colorless

Choose 1 of the Defending Pokémon's attacks. Metronome copies that attack except for its Energy costs and anything else required in order to use that attack, such as discarding Energy cards. (No matter what type the Defending Pokémon is, Clefairy's type is still Colorless.)

10Grading and Population

PSA 10 estimate: WotC-era Clefairy PSA 10 populations vary; small numbers across most sets.

Base Set holos downgrade for edge whitening and print lines; high-grade 1st Edition Clefairy is scarce and trades far above raw.

Other graders: BGS and CGC also grade vintage Pokemon; PSA dominates secondary-market liquidity.
